Work from Home Scams
The world of work especially in the corporate world, has become a very stressful place to be. Accountability, targets, excessive paperwork to name but a few have all added to the stress and are part of the reason why so many people are looking for opportunities to work at home.
However work at home scams are probably one of the main reasons why people choose not take a chance with a Work At Home opportunity. There are many scams both offline and online and the chances are if you choose to go down the work at home route you will inevitably fall for at least one of them. If of course you are extremely gullible like me you will probably fall foul of more than your fair share. I like to believe that everyone is genuine and no matter how hard I try I get caught out every time.
Luckily, despite being gullible, I am also a very positive person and I also believe that you can turn every negative experience into something positive. I have learnt many valuable lessons from the work at home scams that I have fallen for, and I am gradually becoming more aware of the pitfalls and what I should look out for. It is sometimes hard to find a happy medium. It is easy to become a sceptic and think that all opportunities are scams but this just isn’t the case.
There are several things you can do to help ensure that you don’t become a victim of a work at home scam
1. Be open minded but keep a healthy degree of scepticism
2. Be diligent, do your research and find out all you can about the company you are interested in.
3. Be wary of work at home opportunities that require money to start up, but don’t offer a reasonable money back guarantee.
4. Find out how you will get paid. Are there likely to be any problems with the payment process for your country of residence?
5. How long have they been in business? If it is a new company there is no way of knowing how the business will perform or how likely you are to get paid, so steer clear of new business ventures.
6. Join forums and see which Work At Home opportunities the members are recommending and the success they have had to date. Always ask “How much have you earned so far”?
7. Listen to your gut reaction before your rational (or irrational) mind tries to take over. Your first reaction is more than likely to be the right one.
8. If it sounds too good to be true then the chances are it probably is
If you follow the above rule of thumb you are less likely to fall for a work at home scam.
