After 25+ years being in business for myself, I have learned a few lessons along the way. Six years ago I moved from what you’d call a ‘brick and mortar’ business to learn how to make money online and began my study of web and internet SEO techniques, marketing skills, web design and more. Got to keep a sense of humor and LEARN with every thing that happens by my choices. One of my best choices might seem minor to you but it wasn’t for me. I was not very organized, had stacks of paperwork everywhere. So I hired a professional organizer and she was worth her weight in ‘gold’. Here are some of the tips that will help you no matter what type of business you choose.

Time is money and money saved is equal to money earned. When you are spending time looking for things it is easy to get frustrated and $$$ are flying out the window as time is wasted.

Step One: Moving paper around is a part of business, I call it the necessary evil, but over time I’ve learned that the less paper I have and the less time it is handled, the easier to manage.

When computers first came out we all thought, thank goodness, less paper to deal with. Well, it is quite the opposite for some. All home business people have paper and printing to consider. Before you print, and printing costs money, decide if this document really needs saving. From there, does it need saved in paper format OR can it be saved in a well organized computer file system. Notice I said WELL ORGANIZED COMPUTER FILE SYSTEM. Only if you will use the paper document and need paper copy should it be printed. Learn the concept of print, save in files or the BIG Delete button.

He thinks it is enough that the company provides everyone with a self replicating web Site. It has all of the information he needs. All of the product information and Distributor information is online, the product can be ordered online. It looks very good, very professional. So they ask their up line how do I market my products, get customers and how do I make money online? Guess what?

They probably won’t know the answer to that question. Most of the uplines today probably will not have very much experience in how to make money online, because they never did it. Most of their business was conducted in the old traditional MLM Model. The upline tells all of his people: to attend all of the weekly local and corporate business and training meetings; Buy all of the tapes, books and periodicals that the company produces; Distribute these to relatives, friends and acquaintances. They continue to hassle relatives, friends and acquaintances. They build a list and call everyone. They employ the three foot rule, anyone within three feet gets a business or product presentation. If that does not work they do cold calling. If that does not work, they are told to buy leads to build a list. Then keep calling and keep working. Once you run out of family and friends, you are either going to have to buy worthless leads or just quit.

This is when many people get disillusioned, leave the company and move onto something else. Then the cycle just starts to repeat itself over and over again.

It is highly unlikely that you will be able to make money online doing business this way. Additionally the corporate self replicating website, which is the main online tool, is built for the corporate perspective not for the person who wants to make money online. It is not designed for SEO nor is it search engine friendly in any manner.
