Have you ever wanted to start a home based business? Do you know how to develop a passive residual income or start a home business? Why do you want a home based business? From all that I have learned, read and observed over the past 10 years in the network marketing profession, successful people have 3 common traits that they have to build a solid passive residual income.

Those 3 elements are:

(1) A big “Why”
(2) Heart
(3) Being Coachable

Without those 3 elements as a foundation, everything else doesn’t matter in my opinion. You see – those 3 critical traits sets the stage for building a successful home based business and going through the ups and downs of creating a residual income. One must seriously consider their “Why” – because it will require they invest 10-15 hours a week over the next 3 to 5 years minimum if they want a solid home business. If it’s only for the money, they will not last because money at some point in the future will not be the driving force to building a passive residual income. Your why is your core desire about why you want to invest so much time in a home based business and what is it that you truly want out of life. For example, it could be to have your significant other home with the kids on a full time basis. It could be to have a better quality of life for your family, taking an extra vacation, purchasing a new vehicle or all of the above.

In other words, is your “why” big enough to push you through those challenging times when your business is not going so well or its late at night and your tired in need of some sleep. Successful people have a big why and are willing to forgo some sleep, invest some extra time away from the family to get the business going. By the way, to have a successful home based business and develop a residual income, you will sacrifice some time with your family. It’s simply not possible to work full time, develop a home business and devote the same time to your family. I’m not suggesting this will last forever, but your why needs to be important enough that you understand the reason you are doing this home based business. It’s because you want a better quality of life.

The second element is you need to truly care about helping others succeed and having a heart. Help enough people get what they want and you will in time achieve your level of success in a home based business. If you are only in this for yourself, good luck. Over the years I have seen many people fail in our business who didn’t fully understand the truth in that line. They felt they didn’t need the “Personal Growth” material, all they needed were the mechanics, and the Nuts & Bolts, scripts etc and they would just “do it”. With a touch of arrogance perhaps they just felt they knew all about that stuff and were above taking the time to learn how to become more every day.

Leaders are readers and understand that nobody is ever finished that journey. That one major quality of all real leaders is that they constantly are working upon themselves to be better and more each day. Remember, this is a people business and you need to invest time in people and develop a relationship over the long term to create a truly successful home based business and have a solid residual income in network marketing.

The third element and perhaps one of the most important is how coachable are you. Our business is a “People Business”. We are in the business of attracting quality people and helping them enhance their lives by enhancing the lives of others. If you are the type of person that knows it all, good luck again. It doesn’t hurt you to let someone else help you be successful in your home based business. I learned this from a very good friend and my coach – Cameron Howard. We used to butt heads a lot many years ago and still do some days, but I can truly say without hesitation that I have learned so much from him and am very thankful that he invested time with me. A good coach and mentor will be your roadmap, invest time in you and help you become successful to the best of their abilities.

We must be coachable to attract other people that are also coachable. As we grow into a stronger position of leadership, we develop the skills to coach the coaches to coach the coachable. Everybody is always a Leader-In-Training and remains so.

So, are you coachable? Take a moment and look at the results in your life to date and ponder where you may have been more trainable and thus more successful. Perhaps you have read all “those” books and feel you know better. If you attract others just like yourself, and you will – are they going to succeed with their present attitudes and philosophies? Experience has proven to us that only those that are truly coachable grow into positions of leadership. All leaders are fully aware that they must first be followers and remain open minded to learning more always. Does that describe you?

A good coach and mentor, is about being a friend and creating a relationship, realizing it just takes time. Respect is earned. If we do not invest time in people we will not be successful, thus we will not be able to develop a solid residual income or have a successful and long lasting home based business. The secret is to develop the skill to know who best to invest our time with. People are an intangible thing. It takes time to truly get to know another person and even at that we only know most people somewhat. To further complicate matters, there is no way to know beforehand just who is going to be successful. There is no way to truly be sure if a person’s desire to BE Free is so strong that they will go through the obstacles on the path to success. Many people enter our home business with a ton of people handling skills, leadership experience, family needs etc, in short, all that one would think they need to be tremendously successful and they never do a thing. Others, with little experience etc just go out and “do it” because they want it so bad they will pay the price to learn the skills necessary to succeed.

There is no proven way to measure the “Right Stuff” of a person until they are actually in the field doing it. There are “leading indicators” that suggest the potential is there however. These take time to ascertain and become aware of. It can’t be done effectively and consistently in a 5 or 10 minute conversation. It just takes time to get to know people and for them to get to know us. If you want a solid home based business and a solid residual income, realize you need to invest time in people, develop respect for each other and be a friend.

There are a lot of people looking for how to make money using Paypal every day. Quite simple really, set up an online store, sell products just like anyone else would. You can use affiliate links. This way, when someone clicks on your affiliate link and when they buy, you make money. Nothing too special there.

There was a chain email a while back which explained how to make money using Paypal. At any rate, anything that involves chain emails or letters ring of a scam to me anyway. Well, they don’t ring of it – they pretty much are scams. Therefore, I don’t open up those emails. Not a good idea to get into the habit of responding to those kinds of things. If I recall, I think this particular email method was shown on some daytime talk show as well.

If you like blogging, you can use your blog and can sell specific services. You can do reviews, write articles, etc. The good thing about Paypal is that you can send money to someone with an email address (and a Paypal account). But one of the most beneficial aspects to make money using Paypal is that the requirements to accept Paypal payments on your website are no where near as stringent as the requirements to accept the standard credit cards.

And if you don’t have a website but you do have a Paypal account, then you may want to check out completing surveys. Apparently, this is a good way to make money using Paypal, and Paypal is used by survey sites more than other means as a way of exchanging funds. There are a few other online industries that use Paypal as their means of doing transactions. You can do a Google search to find out who else is using it.

But surveys and the like do not have legitimate residual income, but more than that, I hate filling out forms. If you want to make money using Paypal, that’s fine. But I prefer to do something that I really like doing, with products and a group of people I am proud to be a part of. There’s a lot of people that are just plain unhappy with their current employment and are looking to get out of the everyday rat race. The failure rate is high because distributors run out of leads to talk to about the business. A minimum of 995 out of every 1,000 MLM-ers will LOSS money in MLM.

Let’s face it, the vast majority of us are not crack telemarketers, hate high-pressure sales tactics, and certainly do not enjoy the rejection that inevitably comes from cold-calling leads. If you look at the average distributor earnings as published by most MLM companies, you will see that the average earnings is only a few hundred dollars a year! And you can bet that those distributors have spent thousands of dollars on products and motivational books and tapes, and hundreds of hours being rejected, to earn those few hundred dollars… Will this be your Home Business?

You cannot build a home business on salespeople alone. You need a stable base of customers. Customers who purchase the products on a regular basis because they like them.

Our parent company is skilled in selling products to the end user, the customer, and then selling the buying customer to us, the business affiliates (BAs). Why would they do this you ask? This allows them to reduce their marketing costs and to create multiple streams of revenue at the same time. They call it Cooperative Marketing. We call it Good Business. It’s a win-win situation.

As a consequence, this model has no failure rate. For a one-time fee, you get commissions on their purchases for life. You don’t have to market to them, you don’t have to encourage them to purchase more products, you don’t even have to follow up with them unless you want to. The parent company does all that. This is totally different from the traditional MLM model!

Well, I must confess…I am one of the few who has had and is having success working from home on the Internet. I started many years ago and certainly had my failures. But, I plugged away at it. I joined so
many businesses, I can’t come close to naming them all.

I own “the Mall of the World” website, “free Web Sites of the Month” website and more. Just to give you an idea of what I have tried in the past. Go ahead and visit the Mall of the World, you’ll find some great bargains and sometimes “free” shipping. If you need some Internet education, the Web Sites of the Month has some fantastic values and informational ebooks. I’m not trying to be pushy or anything, just passing on some good information.

Then I found it, the one, the only one and the money started to roll in. I’m having so much fun, I don’t want to go anywhere. I just want to watch my success and home business grow. I buy customers and then I buy more customers and my work from home business is booming.

I started to spend some of this money to complete my home office. Now I have everything including a refrigerator for my favorite milkshakes. The milkshakes are one of the many healthy products I purchase through my work from home business. I find this a very healthy way to consume my lunch and keep my weight and diet checked. I’ve been disabled since 1999 and use a wheelchair, therefor, the healthy products I purchase from my parent company are just the right thing for me.

There’s something else I didn’t mention. My work from home business has been around for 9 years, so there’s no need to feel leary about any risks. With this business I buy my customers from the parent company. THIS CAN’T BE BEAT! When I want my business to grow – I buy more customers. I don’t
buy leads, I make NO phone calls, I don’t do parties, I don’t e-mail people. As a matter of fact – I DON’T DO MUCH!

There are tons of guru’s floating around and even more eBooks and articles claiming to know the latest and greatest trick to make tons of money with your home based business. Oh and of course, you must use their method or you will never, ever get anywhere with your business and stay broke the rest of your life.

Once you have your home based business up and running, you must generate visitors to your site if you expect to make money online. You should be constantly looking for more tips that will make money online. You need to be dedicated to find the best tips, tools, and resources to help you make more money with your online business.

In your haste to make money online, don’t spend money foolishly on every advertising gimmick you run across. There are a lot of promises made on the Internet, some of which turn out to be nothing but myths. Try hard not to be a victim of misrepresentation and/or just plain false advertising. Every advertising dollar you have, should be very precious to you.

There’s tons of e-books and CD’s available that supposedly have all the tips and tricks of getting rich online. I would be leery of most of this information. If at all possible, try to get some critical and honest reviews before you spend your hard earned money. I’m not advocating that money is not available with an on-line home based business, I’m only suggestion caution.

When you first start you home based business, relatively minor events can seem huge in the early stages of development. You will be on a emotional roller coaster ride. For example, if you are just starting out and you have two customers/clients and you lose one…that’s a 50% drop! However, if you fast forward in time to the point where you have hundreds of customers/clients and you lose one…that’s just a mere fraction of 1%! Same event, just at a different point in time.
You’ll look back at some of the stuff and it will seem humorous. Soooo, Good Luck!
